Podcasts and Grandchildren

Anyone ever listen to the Paperclipping Round Table podcasts?  They are very informative and entertaining as well.  They are hosted by Noell Hyman and produced by her husband, Izzy Hyman.  Its a weekly format with 2-4 guests sourced from scrapbookers who also work in the scrapbooking industry.  Their guests are from all over the world!  The  subject matter is varied and the podcasts last from 50 to 90 minutes.

This duo also have a website which offers $28 subscription memberships for one year. The membership give you  access to over 260 video tutorials.  They vary in length, but usually 15 - 30 minutes.  They are extremely high quality and chock full of great tips and tricks for creating your scrapbook pages.  There are also a few free videos so you can get the idea of what they have to offer.  Lastly, the also have a forum with all things scrappy for discussion.  You don't have to have a membership to participate in the forums, just sign up and create a user name and password.

Here's the link: www.paperclipping.com

For those of you who don't know me, I'll share a little about myself.  I live in north-central Alabama.  I'm a Southerner by birth, but raised in the North. I've been scrapbooking since 1999 and I've got a long way to go to catch up. I am married, have 2 daughters and 3 grandchildren, 2 boys and a girl.  In fact here is a pic of the 2 youngest, 4 year-old twins, Courtlyn and Caleb.

Adrian is my oldest grandchild, sixteen, a teenager....enough said!  Actually he's a really good kid, just not real talkative these days.

Next time, I'll share some photos of my layouts with you.

Been steadily getting sicker as the days go by.  Will write more when I feel better.  Thanks for understanding and I would appreciate any prayers for quick recovery!

Just returned from a 4 day weekend in Atlanta, GA at the Scrapbook Expo event at Gwinnett Center. So much fun!  Early mornings and late nights, lots of cropping, classes, raffles, door prizes and of course.....SHOPPING!!!!!!  The vendors always bring it each year and this year was no exception.

I met some new friends and reconnected with my scrapbooking friends I've met at other crops.  Lesson learned = I took too much stuff with me and didn't use but about 1/3 of it.  I shopped and visited much more than anticipated and did not scrap nearly as much as I'd planned to.  Next year, I will take only tools and various adhesives and plan to work on the new products/ papers/kits I purchase at the event.

One thing I must say is that for over 365 women (and a few men, believe it or not) to spend 4 days together, everyone was so friendly and polite.  I only saw one incident of less that complimentary behavior and it was between a vendor and his son, not an attendee.  Its a wonderful homage to the human spirit to know they are so kind to each other in this setting.

Here's my one and only picture of the event, taken by my new friend, Kay G.  She's the blond on the left.  Pam  L.,seated, is one of my first and best scrapping buddies I met in Alabama.  We've attended retreats together for almost 10 years now with 2 other close friends, Gladys W. and Kay W. who were not able to attend this expo.

Yes, I am exhausted and sore from walking about in the vendor room and staying up late, but it was so worth it to leave life behind for awhile.  No computer, no phone (well texting doesn't count, does it?), no housework, cooking, cleaning or any of life's normal responsibilities.

If you have the opportunity to attend a Scrapbook Expo event, I recommend you go.  To check out their website, go to www.scrapbookexpo.com, You will see all the classes and examples of what you will be making in each one of them.

I only took one class called Home Sweet Home.  It was a Graphic 45 inspired cookbook with a vintage theme. It was a chipboard album with various size pages and places to write-in your recipes.  The front cover had an inset attachment also for recipes.  So sweet and homespun in nature.

Better run, its time to catch a little shut-eye and recuperate from vaca.

God Bless,

Its been over five years since I posted on this blog.  Embarrassing?  Kind of,,, any good reason.....Maybe, maybe not.  Life is a juxtaposing of priorities and this blog finally rose to the top.

I recently spent a wonderful weekend at "The Scrapbook Playhouse" owned by the wonderful Wanda Watson located in northern Alabama.  You can see pictures of  it here, www.thescrapbookplayhouse.com.  Head over to her website to see more details. Its a four bedroom home used solely for scrapbooking retreats.  The living room houses 8 tables and comfy office chairs set up with storage for scrapbooking. There's 3 bathrooms a fully equipped kitchen a TV and game room and a lovely view of horses in the backfield.
You can rent the Playhouse for a weekend or a week and it comes with a fully equipped scraproom, WI-FI, a Cricut Expression with lots of cartridges, a Silhouette, a Computer  and all the paper and embellishments you could wish for. Wanda has graciously outfitted this room with lots of punches, stamps, inks, dies. You name it, its there, all for your personal use. All supplies are free.  She asks that you leave any unwanted supplies from your stash.  Take something, leave something.

I spent four days there in June and it was heaven.  Eight of us brought food to cook (fully equipped kitchen) and we also hit the local eatieries.  Here 's a picture of one of the pages I scrapped while I was there.

The movie night title is from www.misskatecuttables.com (check it out, thousands of SVGs).  The popcorn and cup are from Silhouette images library.  BayMax was hand drawn and cut.

The Scrapbook Expo in Duluth, Georgia is this weekend and I'm about to plan my pages and pack up for 4 more days of fun, friends and shopping.  I hear my washer and dryer pinging away.  Luckily its right next to my scraproom!  Thanks for stopping by friends. Talk to you soon!

About finished designing this blog.  It's easy!  Well, gotta hit the hay.  Another day at work.  Spent 11.5 hours catching up on the computer today with NO lunch.  Now here I am again.  No real news.  Just started sorting the mess in my scrapbooking room.  More on that later.... Have a good night!
